Radice: 40th Anniversary Silk Cut Billiard with Silver (129)
Product Number: 002-030-3883
Radice was established in 1980 by Luigi Radice, who was already known by pipe smokers and pipe makers for his co-founding of Caminetto and work as a carver at Castello. He and his sons Gianluca and Marzio have developed a bold, muscular shaping style that's instantly recognizable, and in 2020 released a special, limited edition 40th anniversary series of pipes based on the Billiard shape, but with various finishes.
This piece embodies the bold, robust shaping associated with Radice pipes. The firm heel and overall stout aesthetic is clearly displayed, while the tapering shank-and-stem arrangement ensures the bowl remains the focal point of the composition. It's dressed in the camouflage-like smoky contrast stain of the Silk Cut sandblast, showcasing tight-knit stacks of ring grain for both visual and textural appeal. Accented by an engraved, bright silver band and topped by a jet-black stem, this pipe is a fine example of Radice's craftsmanship and comes with a handy travelling case.-Angela Robertson
