Radice: Rind Billiard with Tamper (E) (Magnum Magnum) (Special) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-030-4136
Gigi and sons at Radice are known for crafting large pipes, with this extremely rare, double "Magnum" Billiard being their most unabashedly gigantic, masculine Italian offering to date. Our archives here at Smokingpipes indicate that at least for the past 10 years, we've never received a briar this colossal from them, making this nearly two-pound pipe a most remarkable find. Adding to that its "Special" assignation that denotes Radice pipes of unique status and this is a truly marvel piece of craftsmanship.
This Billiard boasts a tobacco chamber depth of more than four inches and a bowl diameter of about the same, with its total length measuring more than nine. The rounded bowl garners the focal point of the composition, needless to say, with the shank and vulcanite stem showing a pronounced taper to the bit. The stummel is wearing a beautiful example of the workshop's craggy, dark and ruby-tinged Rind rustication, the broad base and rim rendered smooth for textural contrast. The heel is stained a dark ruby tone, the rim a lighter hue to highlight a gorgeous array of swirling birdseye.
Eye-catching in addition to being a topic of conversation, this uncommon piece is sure to be the jewel in its owner's collection. It also comes with a long tamper enclosed within a handsome smooth, wooden sheath stained various earthy brown colors.
