Radice: Spring 2022 Retro Apple with Silver and Leather Bag Tobacco Pipe

Luigi "Gigi" Radice founded his namesake company in 1980 after having worked at Castello and co-founding Caminetto. His workshop is a cornerstone of Italian pipe making and is known for its quality craftsmanship and stunning finishes. Now, his sons Gianluca and Marzio continue the family's legacy and bring that dedication and experience to this unique series: the first of four season-inspired, limited-edition projects for 2022, entitled "Spring." Only 50 pipes comprise this line, consisting of a singular Apple Nosewarmer shape offered in a variety of finishes and lent further flourish in the form of a silver band ornately designed with, appropriately, flowers. For protection and convenience, each comes with its own softly lined, leather case.

Boasting a handy, compact length and delightfully plump, broad-based bowl, this chubby Apple offers all the charming character associated with the rounded, thick-walled form. A fine Sitter, thanks to its flattened underside, and displaying a subtle taper of the shank and stem toward the bit, this piece is dressed in Radice's Retro finish. The Retro recalls the workshop's Bark rustication from years past and is seen here dressing the stummel in a craggy, earthy version, with the rim stained a smooth, complementing color. This Spring piece is perfect for fans of the Italian school as well as of more pocket-friendly sizes.
