Radice: Summer 2022 Rind Bent Billiard with Silver and Leather Bag Tobacco Pipe

Founded in 1980 by Luigi "Gigi" Radice, his namesake company has been a forerunner in Italian pipe making since, and is notable for consistent, quality craftsmanship and flourishing finishes. Gigi's sons Gianluca and Marzio are now at the helm of the company, continuing with the production of new series, including this unique one that began in spring 2022 and is based on the four seasons. This Summer line comprises a single shape offered in a variety of finishes, lent further flair by an intricately designed silver band. For Spring, the shape was an Apple Nosewarmer with flowers ornately displayed on the precious metal. This Summer rendition presents a bent Billiard with fiery suns emblazoned on the gleaming silver accent. For protection and convenience, each pipe comes with its own softly lined, leather case.

This compact, handy pipe packs a lot of substance into its bent Billiard form, the tall, muscular bowl rising from a broad-based heel and tapering toward the smooth, lightly stained rim. The equally stout shank curls upward and is topped by a jet-black, acrylic saddle stem, with the carefully wrought silver band lending a refined disposition. This piece is wearing the craggy, dark and ruby-tinged rustication of the Rind finish, providing plenty of textural and visual stimulation.
