Radice: Underwood Billiard Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-030-8062

In the 1960s and 70s, Luigi Radice worked at two of the most acclaimed Italian marques, Castello and Caminetto. After cementing himself as one of Italy's best pipe makers, he began to craft pipes with his sons under the family name. This Billiard by Radice is an attractive showcase of the Italian workshop's style, and one that's rather demure, measuring less than five inches long. Even given its reduced size, however, this piece maintains a muscular visual and in-hand presence, offering a bowl of considerable thickness and a shank-and-stem arrangement that, while subtly tapered, matches the bowl's density and provides balance to the overall form. Dressing this piece is the carved Underwood finish, which lends a wealth of rugged texture to the composition.
