Radice: Sandblasted Morta Billiard Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-030-8144
In the 1960s and 70s, Luigi Radice worked at two of the most acclaimed Italian marques, Castello and Caminetto. After cementing himself as one of Italy's best pipe makers, he began to craft pipes with his sons under the family name. This Billiard by Radice is crafted from morta, which is semi-petrified oak that has been submerged in peat bogs for thousands of years. One of the most notable differences between briar and morta is their grain patterns, as morta possesses a much more synchronous and geometric pattern than briar, which is dressed here in a crisp, black sandblast. In contrast to the unique material, the shaping here is quite classic, featuring a cylindrical bowl, a rounded shank, and a sleek tapered stem.
