Radice: Rind Pot Tobacco Pipe

After working at Castello and Caminetto, Luigi Radice founded Radice and began carving pipes with his sons. Radice has since become one of the most recognizable and influential pipe brands in Italy. They offer high-quality smoking instruments marked by bold, Italian neoclassical proportions and distinctive finishes, with this Pot being a prime example of the workshop's style. Up front, a stout, stocky bowl stands atop a plump heel and grows thick, insulating walls that surround a modest tobacco chamber. The rim's fore is slightly raised, evoking the look of Dunhill's old-school windshield pipes, which were designed to be smoked while driving, the raised fore protecting the contents of the chamber. A wide transition marries the aforementioned bowl to a trim shank-and-stem arrangement that keeps the aft visually reserved and places emphasis on the fore. The craggy Rind rustication completes the ensemble and lends a wealth of tactile detail to the stummel.
