Radice: Rind Billiard Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-030-8377

Almost twenty years before Radice was established, its founder, Luigi Radice, began his journey with briar pipes at the now-iconic Castello workshop. In 1968, Luigi and Giuseppe Ascorti teamed up to create the Caminetto brand but Luigo eventually left and founded Radice in 1980. With the help of his father and sons, Gianluca and Marzio, Luigi created a family business known for their unique spin on neoclassical pipes, as well as their singular accenting and finishing techniques.

This Billiard from Radice is a handsome showcase of the workshop's Italian neoclassical sensibilities. The bowl features a touch of muscularity to its figure, which is formed by sturdy, straight walls rising from the firm heel toward the flat rim. Out back is a subtly lifted shank-and-stem arrangement, its gradual taper further accentuating this piece's bowl-centric design. Dressed in Radice's Rind rustication, the stummel offers a craggy, rugged texture for the hand to appreciate, complete with a mahogany stain that keeps this pipe's palette reserved.
