Randy Wiley: Galleon Shield (44)

Product Number: 002-093-2187

Here Randy Wiley's put a rather interesting spin on one of his signature, stout-walled Dublin shapes, pinching the bowl into a lenticular shape with pronounced ridges flowing down either flank — in turn making the piece more of a Shield than a Dublin. The eye-shaped bowl doesn't interrupt the overall flow of the composition, however, especially here finished in the craggy rustication of the Galleon line. What's more, the elongation of the bowl from flank to flank actually works to make for a more comfortable feel in hand.
