Randy Wiley: Patina Bent Dublin (77)
Product Number: 002-093-2467
When Randy Wiley was an apprentice woodcarver for an established artist, his first assignment was to carve a perfect sphere. That exercise drove him crazy, but he got it. Perhaps the famous spiral shaping he uses on many of his shapes is a nod to that event; he's still trying to get it out of his system. If so, he's found the perfect artistic expression for doing it. This example proves the point. The lively flame grain surrounding the bowl is accentuated by the crisp lines of the carving. It would be difficult to become bored with this pipe — it's a different pipe from every angle.- Chuck Stanion
