Randy Wiley: Patina Bent Billiard (10)

Product Number: 002-093-2522

When Randy Wiley began his pipemaking career in the 1970s, the Italian style of pipe design was especially popular in the United States — the aesthetic marked by dramatically proportioned, stylized takes on standard English and French designs. As such, Wiley's personal aesthetic often leans into the Italian tradition. This bent Billiard in particular points to that fact, and it resembles a number of Savinelli Autographs I've come across. The bowl, while classically shaped, is bold and imposing, dominating the visual weight and with a heel that's firm and slightly jutting. Comparatively, the shank and stem are more diminutive, but have been lent a certain flourish — the shank shaped with subtle, softly rounded ridgelines.
