Kent Rasmussen: Smooth Bent Dublin
Product Number: 002-287-0215
Kent Rasmussen's distinctive fin-like stem base is practically unmistakable here, especially as it initiates a beautiful sweeping line at the underside of this handsome bent Dublin shape. It serves to evoke the look of something like an idiosyncratic boat, slicing the air in profile as it would gliding across the surface of the water. Kent's managed to make stellar use of this given block, too, as licks of flame and even an underlying ring grain dance on all flanks of the flared bowl, guiding the eye to a beveled rim framing a gorgeous pool of delicate birdseye.
The shape boasts a brilliantly ergonomic feel in hand, too, with a pleasant combination of soft curve and crisp lines to keep the fingers occupied. The chamber emphasizes depth over width, and overall, I'd say there's a comforting, albeit artful, style on display here. Truly wonderful work from Kent Rasmussen.- Daniel Bumgardner
