Kent Rasmussen: Smooth Bent Dublin with Masur Birch Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-287-0233

Kent Rasmussen leverages his background in architecture and modern art to produce some of the most distinctive pipes in all of Denmark. His style reflects the Danish school's penchant for clean, efficient lines and supple curves, though Rasmussen renders all of his shapes through his personal creative prism, making his work unparalleled in the medium. This bent Dublin displays Rasmussen's aptitude for fluid shaping and hearty proportions, presenting a tall, muscular bowl that stands at the fore of an upturned shank and a steeply curved saddle stem.

The bowl here flares from its lifted heel to its broad, plateau-crowned rim, and as it does, it takes on a subtle forward cant that keeps the entire shape looking active and dynamic in profile. Taking on an opposing trajectory to the bowl, the shank lifts out of the low-set transition and stretches toward the aft of the composition, where it joins the aforementioned mouthpiece. Said mouthpiece promotes a comfortable smoking posture, and, along with the shank, lends the shape a fluid curvature that immediately captures the eye. A warm, smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights gorgeous grain across the bowl and shank alike, while an accent of masur birch adorns the stem base and provides a touch of complementary color to the composition.
