Rinaldo: Lithos Hawkbill (C-8) (YY)

Product Number: 002-031-0208

Aside from a rather unusual mounting (consisting of a collar of extra-dark horn which fully encloses the base of the stem), this is a pretty traditional rendition by Rinaldo's standards, presenting the Hawkbill with a smoothly contoured Egg-shaped bowl and long aquiline arc. Deep-chambered, full-bodied, and easy in hand, it's easy to see why this shape was readily embraced by the Italian school after it first appeared at Castello decades ago - though to this day no one has yet been able to identify who the actual artisan was that first came up with it.
