Gentle, languid curves define the profile of this Calabash from Rinaldo, a rather rare shape for the Italian marque, who's expertise in rendering sinuous contours lends them a distinct advantage in crafting timeless shapes with a tantalizing curvaceousness. Instead of the sharp, full bends that we see in traditional renditions of this shape, Rinaldo has opted for a lithe, much less severe curvature that accentuates a gentle, growing momentum as the shape builds toward the bowl. The bowl itself sits proud atop its soft heel, flaring out at the rim to form a smoothly finished stylized cap that hearkens back to the meerschaum caps of traditional gourd Calabashes. This smooth finish contrasts delightfully with the dark rustication of the Lithos line, further juxtaposed by the stippled silver band around the shank, creating a rugged pipe of stately countenance, sure to become a favorite.
