Rinaldo: Lithos Bent Dublin (YY) (Titania)
Product Number: 002-031-0639
Rinaldo has proven themselves to consistently produce both pipes that are timeless examples of classic design, and pieces that are highly stylized, almost experimental, interpretations of traditional shapes. This pipe is unquestionably the latter, resembling a bent Dublin in name alone, as the sinuous and steep curves evoke the styling of a Calabash, the bowl shaped somewhere between an Egg and a Cutty with the thickness and cant of a Horn. This combination makes for a striking profile that urges the viewer to look closely, if not twice, in order to take in and appreciate just how much detail has gone into its shaping. With a capacious chamber, thick walls, an offset saddle stem and rugged Lithos rustication for dressing, this pipe presents as a handsome, practical smoking companion rife with visual and textural intrigue.-John McElheny
