Rinaldo: Triade Bent Egg with Silver (1) (YY) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-031-0674
This is quite the sinuous profile from Rinaldo, and encapsulates nearly everything I would want in a deeply bent Egg such as this. The bowl here is beautifully plump and extremely charming, with a low-set waistline and a deeply cheeked transition which serves to emphasize the presence of the bowl, working in tandem with a sweeping, almost lifted, heel to really push it into the forefront. The shank that ebbs from this transition is possessed of a striking upward angle, arcing tightly as it tapers gently to the junction, which is marked with a vivid silver band. This taper continues into the starkly curved stem, creating a poised sculptural look that catches the eye immediately and is very well suited to jaw hanging. Dressing the briar here is a dark, chestnut-hued variation of the Triade smooth finish which reveals some beautiful streaks of windswept flame grain around the bowl and contrasts fantastically with the band of silver at the junction.
