Rossi: Free Red Rusticated Bent Billiard (6mm) Tobacco Pipe

Rossi's Free series is one of the Italian marque's most interesting, as it comprises pipes individually shaped outside of the marque's standard shape chart. As a member of that line, this bent Billiard is possessed of some bespoke features that set it apart from their other renditions of the shape, such as the rearward-slanting rim. This rim serves to balance out a slight forward urge which the bowl undertakes as well, keeping a great deal of its momentum, but balancing out the lines of this pipe's fore quite well. What I find most distinctive about this piece, however, is the decision to wrap the low-set waist with a soft ridgeline, one that flows into the underside of the shank and pushes out at the flanks, creating a firm focal point for the visual weight here. The shank takes on a gradual taper from the transition to the sunny acrylic saddle stem, a demure downturn at the bit lending a comfortable smoking posture while its vibrant hues contrast the ruby-auburn rustication of the stummel.
