Rossi: Lucca (8121 EX) Tobacco Pipe

With its wide chamber and firm, jutting heel, Rossi's "8121 EX" is a thoroughly Italian take on the bent Pot shape, offering the same palm-filling form as Savinelli's "121 KS" design. The bold, muscular bowl garners much of the visual attention but is expertly balanced out by the saddle stem's graceful downward turn — softening the design's masculine profile while also allowing the shape to be more comfortably clenched. The chamber's thick insulating walls provide plenty of substance between the smoker and the burning leaf inside and offer a substantial presence in hand.

Similar to the Vittoria finish, Rossi's Lucca series presents this pipe in a dark-stained rustication that does well to maintain the silhouette's clean lines while offering intriguing texture in hand. Where the Lucca differs, however, is in the addition of a flashy chrome accent ring, contrasting elegantly against the dark hue of the stummel. Furthermore, all pipes within the Lucca line boast EX size designations — keeping the shape and relative proportions intact, but lending this piece an even more substantial presence that results in larger chamber dimensions.
