Rossi: Notte (8114) Tobacco Pipe

Savinelli, who makes Rossi pipes, boasts a rather robust shape chart, not to mean that all of their shapes are robust, but the diversity of shapes is grand. The Italian marque has an especially wide array of straight Billiard designs, all differing in their size and proportions. In Rossi's portfolio, though, that selection is made more minimalist and straightforward. Found here is the "8114" straight Billiard, based on Savinelli's "114 KS." It's a medium-sized rendition, balancing stoutness and leanness, and lovers of English classics will appreciate the traditional shaping and relative proportions but with a slightly larger bowl to ensure a comforting in-hand feel and plenty of chamber space.

Introduced to Rossi's portfolio in 2019, the Notte series presents an alluring palette of dark, stormy hues. Meaning "night" in Italian, the Notte offers an aptly dark aesthetic, pairing a smoky, smooth stain with a jet-black acrylic mouthpiece — a trim brass accent ring adding just a touch of brightness, like a sliver of moon at midnight. The stain, while dark, still reveals the briar's natural grain on this piece, emulating the look of swirling clouds within a night's black sky for a powerful and mysterious disposition.
