Ryan Alden: Sandblasted Dublin Stack (King of Clubs)
Product Number: 002-777-0055
Ryan Alden is an artisan who gravitates toward the classics, but that doesn't mean he won't interpret those classics through his own creative lens, as seen with this stunning straight Dublin. Here, the American carver presents a whimsical take on the shape chart standard, keeping the overall length compact but dramatically elongating the height of the bowl, pushing it well into Stack territory. The soaring bowl displays a slight hint of forward cant to its profile and houses nearly two and a half inches of chamber depth inside, ensuring you'll have plenty of time to enjoy your favorite blends. Ryan's greatly influenced by vintage English pipes, and has appropriately treated this pipe to an especially craggy sandblast with ring grain climbing all the way up the towering bowl, offering plenty of rich texture in hand. The smooth, gently inflated rim is stained a lovely auburn color, providing a classy, understated accent to an already impressive piece.- Jeffery Sitts
