Ryan Alden: Sandblasted Apple (Jack of Diamonds) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-777-0149
With a background in sculpting, leatherworking, and woodturning, pipe artistry was a natural transition for American artisan Ryan Alden. While he pulls inspiration from various schools of design, Alden is often seen crafting pieces within the Anglo-French style, including this Apple. Approaching Nosewarmer proportions, this Apple measures less than five inches long while housing a compact tobacco chamber, making this a great piece for those seeking short smoking sessions or a travel companion. Up front, the bowl possesses a slight forward urge as its walls expand from a full bodied heel before tapering inward to a chamfered rim. The plump fore is married to an arrow-straight shank and stem, the latter displaying swirling yellow and black hues of vulcanite. Save for the smooth rim, the stummel is dressed in a dark sandblast, highlighting impressive growth rings and proving ample texture to explore.
