Sabina Santos: Sandblasted Olivewood Apple with Mammoth Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-817-0045
Sabina Santos' pipe making is an amalgamation of self-taught knowledge along with skills garnered from working with several well-known Danish artisans, including Tom Eltang, Tao, and Hans "Former" Nielsen. A former corporate financier, the Portuguese artisan continues to make her mark in the pipe-making world. Her pipes comprise expert engineering, winsome finishes, and lots of creativity, as seen in this plump Apple.
An overall compact pipe, it's made out of olivewood, which is a bit unusual, but add in the fact that said wood is sandblasted, and that takes it to a whole other, extremely rare level. The technique further emphasizes its intriguing grain display, the light tan and sand-colored striations even more outstanding given its well-executed sandblast. Sabina has adorned the baby blue saddle stem with a fetching accent of mammoth for contrast, while the shaping of this piece is rather classic.
