Sam Adebayo: Sandblasted Chubby Bent Apple with Bakelite
Product Number: 002-750-0018
If you follow the work of Nashville carver Sam Adebayo, you know he enjoys using wilder color palettes, with bakelite stems in a rainbow of colors (sometimes all in the same piece), unique bamboo shank-work, novel use of plateau, and a variety of other playful cues. However, the pipemaker isn't one to forego subtlety, especially as it relates to his ability to integrate the stem into the composition at large. Put simply, he's just as likely to produce a piece like the bent Apple wearing a dragonblood accent ring paired to a bright blue bakelite stem in this same update as he is something like this bent Apple. The domed milk chocolate saddle stem makes for a perfectly understated match to the warm sandblasted finish Sam's lent the piece, and as for the treatment itself, I think the ring-grain speaks for itself.
