Sam Adebayo: Partially Sandblasted Bent Dublin with Bakelite Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-750-0019
Sam Adebayo and Micah Redmond are sort of changing the game when it comes to Bakelite these days. After sourcing a large batch of the antique material a while back, the two American artisans began incorporating a range of bright, vivid colors into their stem designs, hues which we just hadn't seen used in pipe making previously. Lilac? Teal blue? Mint green? Ferrari red? Yep, Sam and Micah both have expanded the spectrum to accommodate them all.
While bright yellow was sort of the norm for Bakelite back in the day, in this bent Dublin Sam's played up that traditional theme by adding a thin inlay of hot pink Bakelite within the saddle's base. Together with the more reserved, darker stain of the sandblasted stummel as well as the walnut contrast along the plateau-kissed rim, it adds a playful flash to the composition — quite a contrast to the powerful stance and quick lines of the shape itself.
