Sam Adebayo: Sandblasted Bent Dublin with Bakelite Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-750-0057
Sam Adebayo first became interested in pipes as a teenager and began carving his own in his early 20's, honing his craft through persistence and studying the work of pipe makers like Todd Johnson, Bruce Weaver, and Rad Davis. Adebayo also draws on the work of Japanese carves like Hiroyuki Tokutomi, with a portfolio that testifies to his love of classic shapes, as well as his appreciation for more fluid, organic designs.
This bent Dublin is a fine example of the latter, featuring a broad bowl with supple, curved walls that rest atop a soft heel at the fore of a pinched transition to an upturned round shank that flares toward a domed saddle stem of bright orange Bakelite. The design is flowing and organic in silhouette, with a smooth rim displaying fine birdseye with touches of plateau, elegantly contrasting the stummel's black sandblasted finish, which displays excellent ring grain that provides plenty of both visual and tactile enjoyment.-Gabriel Bass
