Sara Eltang: Smooth Paneled Dublin
Product Number: 002-332-0525
A neat, architectural take on the straight Dublin, the bowl of this Sara Eltang offering is covered in a series of eight precise panels, conforming the poised, muscular bowl into an octagon when viewed from above. It's a fascinating display of line work and shaping, no doubt benefiting from being designed, turned, finished, and inspected by Tom Eltang in his small artisan workshop. The bowl displays a touch of forward cant in profile and commands the majority of the piece's visual weight, with the slightly compressed oval shank accentuating the bowl's prominence. It's finished in a gorgeous contrast stain, highlighting lively licks of flame grain across each individual facet and birdseye along the gently inflated rim. The piece as a whole is also impressively lightweight offering an easy in-hand feel and should prove to be effortlessly clenched as well.- Jeffery Sitts
