Sara Eltang: Smooth Dublin
Product Number: 002-332-0589
This straight Dublin from the Sara Eltang line is based on Tom Eltang's signature Arne Jacobsen shape, named after the legendary Danish architect and designer who is renowned for his contribution to the school of architectural Functionalism and his innovative furniture designs. Jacobsen was also a pipe smoker and has had a significant influence of Tom Eltang's pipe making style, with minimalism often being a dominant feature in the artisan's work. That minimalist approach is reflected here in this Dublin, featuring a tall, slender, forward-ebbing bowl that offers a generously deep chamber. Tom has proportioned this pipe beautifully, both in physical and visual weight, giving the bowl just enough prominence to make it stand out but without causing one to ignore the svelte shank and elegantly tapered mouthpiece. Left free of adorning accents, this rendition is dressed in a vibrant contrast stain that showcases the briar's natural grain.- Jeffery Sitts
