Smio Satou: Smooth Bent Dublin with Bamboo
Product Number: 002-142-0302
Astoundingly light, incredibly slender, and impossibly long, this magnificent specimen of a pipe from Japanese pipe maker Smio Satou is the kind of work that will make a grown man weak in the knees. The Dublin shaped bowl, delicately articulated from cambered rim to spiked heel, is nearly a study in perfection. The mix of straight and flame grain that encompasses the bowl is really very lovely, but the speckled bird's eye that crowns the rim is superb. No doubt, the most fantastic aspect of this piece is the sseven-knuckle-long piece of lean bamboo that constitutes the shank and the majority of the pipe. It's amazing that, at nearly nine inches long, this pipe weighs little more than 36 grams. It's a fascinating piece, exotic in its quiet radiance.
