Savinelli Autograph: Autograph Smooth Bent Egg (6) (6mm) Tobacco Pipe

Savinelli's autograph line denotes pipes of the highest quality from the Italian marque, being their line of handmade pieces which, oftentimes, strays from traditional shaping and opts for a more freehand aesthetic. This particular example is a sinuous bent Egg, a take on the shape which emphasizes the rearward oriented heel and dramatic recurve of the profile to great effect. From the stem begins this recurve, gently at first, with a slight downturn, flaring into the shank which remains straight for a time but bends into the bowl, transitioning acutely, though smoothly. The underside forms a heel in line with the aft of the bowl which swiftly arcs upward to form it. The rim is dappled with rising plateau, as if the pipe's zenith is continuing to reach for the heavens, trying to continue its curvature indefinitely. The stummel is finished smooth and stained a rich honeyed mahogany that brings out some interesting grain patterns and highlights the silhouette of the pipe.
