Being a part of Savinelli's Autograph series already makes this pipe a unique example of the artisanal skills the Italian marque's craftsmen boast, but its designation as a Freestyle means that this piece is truly singular. Heartily built, this bent Billiard presents us a large chunk of briar and holds a respectably deep chamber. The rim overlooking it is horizontally curved, though not quite domed, carved with radiating notches from flank to flank, shaped like a curvaceous half-circle as informed by the bowl. Speaking of the bowl, this is where the most curious elements of the pipe reveal themselves, the shaping at the fore looking almost like the Brandy-esque Billiards of Danish origin, with a taper toward the rim. The aft is significantly less rounded and rises straight to the rim, as opposed to tapering, a pair of flowing ridgelines separating the two halves. On the front of the bowl is possibly the most distinguishing element of this piece, a quintet of deep clefts in the briar, like beadlines but significantly wider, obviously done by hand at the sanding wheel. The transition is a nearly perfect 90 degree angle and the long shank tapers gently toward the stem, a marbled black and cream acrylic piece that resembles horn, handsomely contrasting the dark auburn sandblast of the stummel.
