A jaunty, neoclassic take on the Rhodesian shape, this Artisan rendition was made by a single talented artisan at Savinelli, and clearly bespeaks the passion and imagination of its carver. The bowl flares to a crisp ridgeline about the waist, with a conical, slightly asymmetric rim giving it an active profile. It rests comfortably in hand, with a smooth auburn finish looking quite sleek and bringing brilliant flame grain to life. The stem is perhaps a bit more stout than I expect, bringing to mind the Author shape, but doing well here to balance the physical and visual weight of the piece.
