Being entirely handmade from select-grade briar by experienced artisans, Savinelli's Autograph pipes don't reflect the standard, numbered shapes seen across the Italian marque's systematized pipe chart. Instead, the Autograph series focus on creativity and individuality, and even within the line's portfolio, this Volcano rendition is distinct. Many of Savinelli's other Autograph Volcanoes have feature a consistently domed heel. This example, however, features a concave heel, with the flanks curling upward but the fore and aft devoid of curvature. Such shaping lends the form a more crisp and rigid structure in profile, and the bowl's lower fore seems to jut forward into a point. That crispness matches the bowl's clean upward taper, the entire stummel dressed in a rich, auburn stain for vivid grain definition.
