Savinelli Autograph: Autograph Sandblasted Bent Dublin (6mm) Tobacco Pipe

This languidly bent Dublin comes to us courtesy of Savinelli's Autograph line, the handmade work of one of their best artisans, his creativity unbound by the Italian marque's shape chart. A gentle curvature possesses this piece, with a shank and stem combination that makes an easy upturn before the trim black acrylic taper arcs gingerly downward. The shank springs out of a fairly wide transition, leaving more than enough room to drape a thumb. The bowl here rests on a sweeping heel that curves up and forward at the fore, informing the gradual flare that is iconic to the profile and canting lending a prominence to the rim's fore as well. There's a pronounced stoutness about this pipe that is evident in nearly all of its build, as the shank is thick, and so is the stem, though this is most prevalent in the bowl, rising to nearly two inches in height and taking up the majority of the visual weight in true Italian Neoclassical form. A crisp sandblast and earthy stain dress the stummel here, revealing some lovely ring grain rippling up the bowl from the heel to the rim, affording the aesthetic a handsome ruggedness.
