Savinelli's Autograph line offers pipes that deviate from the Italian marque's standardized shape chart, with each piece handcrafted from select blocks of briar by one of the workshop's skilled artisans. The results are distinctive and highly original, as this bent Dublin can testify. The tall, thick-walled bowl possesses a broad, flared rim, a cinched waistline, and a firm, rounded heel. The subtly lifted shank escapes from the low-slung, muscular transition and features a gentle broadening along its length. A tapered stem of jet-black acrylic tops off the design and makes a downturn for a comfortable smoking posture, its dark color perfectly complementing the earth-toned sandblast that dresses the stummel. The sandblast coaxes out neat stacks of growth rings across the bowl, lending the stummel plenty of unique texture to delight the fingers.
