Savinelli Autograph: Artisan Bent Apple (6mm) Tobacco Pipe

While still a part of the Autograph series, and thus not beholden to Savinelli's shape chart and handmade entirely by a single one of the Italian marque's best artisans, this Linea Artisan bent Apple is quite reserved compared to its counterparts. It is still quite Neoclassical in form, however, as it presents immediately with a large, plumb bowl that takes up the majority of the visual weight, though it is paired to a rather slender length of shank and stem. This svelteness is accentuated by the pair's gradual, continuous taper, with the black acrylic stem taking a slight, sudden downturn at the bit, while the shank remains fairly straight. The transition is quite wide, with the shank's taper working in concert with the aft side of the bowl's rounding to present an obtuse angle that allows the thumb plenty of room to rest. This rounding continuous throughout all of the bowl's construction, creating a hearty, solid presence in the hand that is quite comfortable. Dressing this pipe is a warm mahogany stain that reveals some handsome grain all around, with windswept flame wrapping the bowl.
