Savinelli Autograph: Autograph Sandblasted Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe

The Autograph series comes to us from Italian marque Savinelli and comprises hand made pieces crafted by a single one of their in house artisans, all of whom are freed from the standards of the usual shape chart. This bent Dublin is quite a dramatic, Neoclassical piece, and starts with a fairly trim saddle stem which here has been fitted with a firm expansion ring at the base. An extended tenon feeds into the flared, plateau-crowned shank face, tapering as it flows into the transition before the bowl erupts out of it. Said bowl sits atop a firm heel that sweeps upward at the fore to build walls of nearly two inches in height, working with the aft of this bowl and flaring to reinforce the silhouette. The rim is especially unique, as the left lifts high and dips at the middle of the fore and aft, while the right is quite a bit taller, lifting into a craggy half-crown of plateau. An earthy, crisp sandblast dresses the stummel here, revealing some handsome grain through the bowl, with rippling growth rings cascading across its walls.
