Savinelli's Autograph line offers pipes that deviate from the Italian workshop's standard shape chart and are handcrafted from select blocks of briar. The results are typically quite unique, as this bent Billiard can attest. Juxtaposing the supple, rounded features of its bowl against the firm, structural lines of its paneled shank, this piece possesses a bold, eye-catching profile. While quite muscular in its construction, the shank is trim in relation to the forward-canted bowl, and it gradually tapers into the arcing stem, further diminishing its visual presence. A crisp, smoky sandblast dresses the stummel and coaxes out rippling growth rings across the surface of the bowl, providing plenty of stimulation for the fingers and the eyes.
