Savinelli's Autograph line consists of pipes that are handcrafted from start to finish and deviate from the Italian marque's standardized shape chart. This Freehand is a fine example of the series and quite a distinctive design. The bowl, stocky and muscular, features a heart-shaped panel on either flank, while its fore and aft sides bear rectangular facets. The geometric bowl is matched by the shank, which is boxy and kicks high toward an abbreviated, arcing saddle stem. It's all dressed in a crisp, dark sandblast that brings vivid definition to the briar and draws out rippling growth rings across the surface of the bowl.
