Savinelli's acclaimed Autograph line is notable for the creative freedom it offers the marque's talented artisans, who craft their pieces using only high-quality briar. The outcome of their efforts is phenomenal, as one would expect from the brand that's been around since 1876. In this bent Billiard offering, the hearty bowl is imbued with a broad asymmetrical rim, lending an organic element to the composition, while the plumpness of the bowl and forward cant are quite pronounced. Out back, a pinched transition and the Italian marque's iconic triangular shank lead to a jet-black acrylic stem that is downturned at the bit, the ridgelines along the side of the shank being crisp and concise. Presented in a smooth auburn stain that highlights lovely tendrils of flame grain, this is a handsome pipe that reflects the talents of the artisans who shaped it by hand.
