Savinelli Autograph: Autograph Smooth Bent Dublin (8) (6mm) Tobacco Pipe

We've received a fair few bent Dublins from Savinelli's Autograph line, the form lending itself quite well to the series' freedom from the shape chart and single-artisan construction. This particular iteration is one of my personal favorites, as it leverages structure and momentum to its advantage, placing its large bowl at the forefront in terms of visual weight, though ensuring the shank and stem still hold plenty. Said combination benefits from a sharp upward angle in the shank, as well as a square, paneled outline, throughout, with the ridgelines running from the stem base and into the transition, dissipating on top and continuing on bottom to form the heel. Said heel is softly rounded, creating the impression of a strong forward cant, and giving the shank and stem a handsome, almost sculptural posture. Said bowl is possessed of a dramatic flare from the heel to the rim, with a bit of a sweep to its fore lending it some muscularity, and the rim itself is inflated, rising up near the chamber before a chamfer takes hold. This pipe is dressed in a warm, light, auburn-mahogany stain that reveals some truly excellent flame grain which frames the flanks and wraps around the bowl, as well as some well developed birdseye on the rim and heel.
