Savinelli's Autograph line comprises pipes made by a single talented artisan according to their individual vision and the select block of briar they have chosen, and this organic, Cherrywood-like bent Dublin demonstrates that vision quite well. The bowl here is quite dynamic, with a flattened heel that flares dramatically to the rim, the aft side traveling rather straight, while the fore end displays a dynamic curvature and pointed edge that lends the composition some momentum. The shank seems to distinguish itself from the bowl like the branch of a tree, the same organism, but gaining life and will of its own as it grows further from the trunk, its sinuous outline rising to meet a well-bent stem, with the two consistently tapering to the button. The light smooth finish provides understated elegance, revealing handsome grain throughout, with ample birdseye across the rim and plenty of flame around the bowl.
