As part of Savinelli's Autograph line, this Apple was handmade from start to finish by one of the Italian firm's most experienced carvers. The carvers are given complete creative freedom and are allowed to follow their personal vision, resulting in some truly captivating design, as evidenced by this particular piece. Tall and forward-urging, the bowl here immediately captures the eye, its implied momentum, plateau-crowned rim, and subtle contours working in concert to garner attention. In typical Italian neoclassical fashion, the bowl overshadows the oval shank and sleek saddle stem that bring up the rear. It's all dressed in a crisp sandblast that unveils rippling waves of grain about the bowl.
