Savinelli's Autograph is the Italian marque's limited-production, handmade series, utilizing specially aged extra-extra plateau briar and being crafted by only three of the brand's most experienced carvers. From start to finish, the process of crafting a single one of these pipes is handled by a single one of these veteran craftsmen, the series providing them with design freedom and allowing them to express their personal creativity. This bent Dublin is a hearty pipe with an agile silhouette, its wide transition pairing the bowl to an arcing shank and stem combination. The shank itself is a lifting cylinder of briar that meets a sleek saddle stem of demurely curved, horn-toned acrylic, which poises this piece for comfortable smoking. Up front, the bowl stands on a pronounced, muscular heel and grows thick, flaring walls that expand out to a subtly domed rim that's chamfered into the chamber. These walls are nearly as broad as they are tall, with plenty of curvature to appreciate in hand and ample room to display the stummel's crisp, ruddy sandblast.
