Savinelli Autograph: Autograph Creativity Smooth Billiard (6mm) Tobacco Pipe

Savinelli's Autograph is the Italian marque's limited-production, handmade series, utilizing specially aged extra-extra plateau briar and being crafted by only three of the brand's most experienced carvers. From start to finish, the process of crafting a single one of these pipes is handled by a single one of these veteran craftsmen, the series providing them with design freedom and allowing them to express their personal creativity. While all Autograph pipes are unique, Savinelli's Creativity pipes stand out among the rest. Creativity pipes are truly one-of-a-kind and boast some of the finest finishing, shaping, and grain the workshop has to offer.

This particular Creativity design from the Autograph line is presented as a bent Billiard, maintaining a fairly traditional build throughout save for the broad panel across its underside that makes it a stable sitter. Up front, the walls of the cylindrical bowl rise with a dynamic forward urge as they reach the domed rim, offering a wealth of substance in hand and aptly insulating the capacious chamber thanks to the walls' impressive thickness. The transition lends plenty of room to wrap the thumb as it gives way to a lifting shank, which has here been carved to include a spiral-style shape before it meets a similarly stylized stem of tapering black acrylic. Dressed in a honey-hued stain, the stummel is finished smooth, showcasing streaks of flame grain wrapping around the bowl, striated at points by visible growth rings that hold one's gaze.
