Savinelli Autograph: Autograph Mignon Smooth Freehand (6mm) Tobacco Pipe

Savinelli's Autograph is the Italian marque's limited-production, handmade series, utilizing specially aged extra-extra plateau briar and being crafted by only three of the brand's most experienced carvers. From start to finish, the process of crafting a single one of these pipes is handled by a single one of these veteran craftsmen, the series providing them with design freedom and allowing them to express their personal creativity. This Freehand belongs to the Mignon line, a series of pipes that features exclusively those pieces that are much shorter and more subdued of stature than their other offerings. A striking silhouette, this pipe features a bowl-forward construction whose visual weight is centered primarily on the remarkably pronounced heel spur. This spur pushes out and down from below the bowl, broadening the bowl's outline significantly and contributing to a geometrical look up front. The transition is wide out back, and it gives way to a sleek shank and demurely downturned stem of tapering red acrylic. Dressed in a warm, light stain, the stummel showcases dense wisps of flame grain surrounding the bowl and lining the shank.
