Savinelli Autograph: Autograph Panel Partially Sandblasted Freehand with Silver (Legacy Stock) Tobacco Pipe

Savinelli's Autograph is the Italian marque's limited-production, handmade series, utilizing specially aged extra-extra plateau briar and being crafted by only three of the brand's most experienced carvers. From start to finish, the process of crafting a single one of these pipes is handled by a single one of these veteran craftsmen, the series providing them with design freedom and allowing them to express their personal creativity. Made with aged briar that Savinelli has designated as "Legacy Stock," This Freehand is an impressively balanced take on the shape from the Italian brand, the presence of its bowl nicely offset by the shank and stem combination out back. Coming in at just a touch over six inches long, this piece is fairly lengthy, and it displays a look immediately evocative of the Belge, though one rendered in hearty, truly neoclassical proportions. The transition is wide, and the shank that reaches out from it is a broad, slightly extended oval, with its added length being capped by a band of silver at the junction to a black acrylic saddle stem. Up front, the bowl stands on a sweeping heel and urges forward dynamically, growing tall, understatedly curvaceous walls that rise to a flat rim and offer plenty of insulation for the chamber. Dressed in a partial sandblast, most of the stummel showcases crisp texture, while the fore of the bowl and rim are finished smooth for ample contrast.
