Savinelli's Autograph is the Italian marque's limited-production, handmade series, utilizing specially aged extra-extra plateau briar and being crafted by only three of the brand's most experienced carvers. From start to finish, the process of crafting a single one of these pipes is handled by a single one of these veteran craftsmen, the series providing them with design freedom and allowing them to express their personal creativity. This bent Dublin is a sleek piece with an agile silhouette, its wide transition pairing the bowl to a slim, extended shank and a trim saddle stem. The shank itself is a lifting cylinder of briar that meets a sleek saddle of demurely curved, cobalt acrylic, which poises this piece for comfortable smoking. Up front, the bowl stands on a pronounced, rounded heel and grows thick, flaring walls that expand out to a broad, plateau-crowned rim, which overlooks a capacious chamber. These walls provide plenty of space to showcase the stummel's crisp, contrast-rich sandblast, here revealing rippling bands of growth rings flowing down the walls of the bowl.
