Savinelli's Autograph is the Italian marque's limited-production, handmade series, utilizing specially aged extra-extra plateau briar and being crafted by only three of the brand's most experienced carvers. From start to finish, the process of crafting a single one of these pipes is handled by a single one of these veteran craftsmen, the series providing them with design freedom and allowing them to express their personal creativity. This bent Billiard is a sleek and streamlined take on the classic shape from the workshop, boasting a slender stretch of shank and stem that arc slowly out of a wide transition. The shank itself is compressed into an ovoid shape matched by the stem's sleek taper of swirling acrylic, with the pair poising this pipe for comfortable smoking thanks to the stem's demure downturn at the base. Up front, the bowl stands on a subtly lifting heel and grows tall, tapering walls that urge forward dynamically as they grow, lending this pipe a gracile character enhanced by its lilting shank and stem. Dressed in a crisp sandblast, there's plenty of textural grain to appreciate through the stummel.
