Savinelli: Leonardo da Vinci Balestra Smooth Brown (6mm)
Product Number: 002-033-17234
Often referred to by historians as a man of "unquenchable curiosity" and "feverishly inventive imagination", Leonardo Da Vinci was also a fervent defender of his home of Firenze (Florence): the center of Humanist thought and culture in his day. This fervor manifested in the "original Renaissance man" devoting a good deal of his time and genius towards designing advancements in military equipment. It was his visionary thinking which led to the world's first concept of a tank, the double-hull, and the namesake of this eighth installment in the Leonardo line, the Balestra (giant crossbow). When viewed directly from the side, the Balestra appears to be a straight-forward Billiard with a triangular shank and stem. From the top, however, the rim takes on the appearance of a crossbow, complete with prod arched and "at the ready". The Savinelli Natural stain is famous for its ability to maximize a fine grain, as well as create a sense of a "miles deep" polish, and suits sophisticated shapes, such as the Balestra exceptionally well. Tucked in its special box and accompanied by a tamper, this Leonardo pipe makes for a fine collectible.
